OUR FERTILIZATION PROGRAM SCHEDULE

When you sign up for our Bermuda grass fertilization program, we will visit your property six times yearly. Your lawn requires different amounts of nutrients depending on the season. Our lawn care pros at CLC Landscaping know this, which is why our fertilization program schedule is solely based on soil temperatures that we monitor at our facility.

Generally, our fertilization program runs from January to December with this schedule:

  • January to March: We apply pre-emergent weed control in the spring to prevent weeds from growing in your yard.
  • March to April: We administer another round of weed control and fertilizer high in nitrogen to give you a beautiful dark green lawn.
  • April to May: As the summer heat approaches, our fertilization application will help your grass develop more substantial and deeper roots and remain in great shape throughout the summer.
  • May to August: Our team will apply another round of St. Augustine Grass Fertilizer to promote strong roots and thick grass growth.
  • August to October: We will apply a fungicide treatment to your lawn in the fall when heavy rains can trigger active fungi development, which is rampant. This treatment will preserve the healthy and lush lawn you’ve seen all year.
  • October to December: As the fall season bids goodbye and the winter sets in, we apply pre-emergent weed control to prevent late fall and early spring weeds from emerging.

You can add 2 additional treatments to this program, including landscape bed weed control and animal-repellent treatments. We will analyze the weed type in landscape bed weed control treatment to take different approaches to control its growth. On the other hand, in animal-repellent treatments, we will use various plants to keep the animals away from your lawn.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I choose the right fertilizer for my lawn?

Choosing the right fertilizer for your Texas lawn depends on several factors. At CLC Landscaping, we recommend a two-pronged approach for optimal results:

  • Know Your Grass Type: Texas is home to warm-season grasses like Bermudagrass and Zoysiagrass. These grasses thrive with a fertilizer strong in nitrogen for greening and growth during the warmer months.
  • Consider Soil Testing: A soil test provides a precise analysis of your lawn’s nutrient needs. This valuable information helps us select a fertilizer that addresses deficiencies and avoids over-application, protecting your lawn and the environment.

We can guide you through the soil testing process and recommend the most suitable fertilizer blend for your unique Texas lawn.

Fertilization can be a valuable tool for improving the health of your Texas lawn. However, proper timing and application are crucial. At CLC Landscaping, our experts will assess your specific grass type, soil conditions, and growing season to develop a customized fertilization plan. We prioritize slow-release fertilizers that provide essential nutrients throughout the growing season without risking damage from the scorching summer heat. With proper fertilization, your lawn will be better equipped to resist drought, pests, and diseases, resulting in a thicker, greener, and more resilient carpet of grass.

A healthy lawn is a beautiful lawn! Here at CLC Landscaping, we recommend checking for a few signs to see if your Texas turf needs a nutrient boost:

  • If your grass seems sluggish and isn’t keeping pace with regular mowing, it might be lacking essential nutrients.
  • A vibrant green is the hallmark of a healthy lawn. Yellowing or pale grass could indicate a nitrogen deficiency.
  • Uneven growth patterns or bare patches can be a sign that your soil needs fertilization to promote consistent growth.
  • A healthy lawn naturally crowds out weeds. If weeds are thriving, it could be because your grass isn’t getting the nutrients it needs to compete.
  • If you’re unsure, feel free to contact CLC Landscaping for a professional assessment via call at (830) 515-2002!
We can certainly discuss follow-up care options! This may include recommendations for watering schedules, mowing height adjustments, or additional treatments to address any ongoing issues.

Here are some common signs:

  • Thin, patchy grass
  • Discoloration (yellowing, browning)
  • Slow growth
  • Increased weeds
  • Bare spots

You may start to see some initial improvement within a few weeks, with more noticeable results within 4-6 weeks. However, consistent fertilization throughout the growing season is key to achieving optimal results.

We recommend a customized fertilization schedule for lawns to promote healthy growth without waste. The frequency depends on your grass type and desired level of maintenance:
  • Warm-Season Grasses: Generally, one application in spring (March-May) and potentially another in early fall (September-October) is sufficient. Slow-release nitrogen is ideal for these applications.
  • Cool-Season Grasses: For cool-season lawns like tall fescue, apply fertilizer in September and again in May to maintain year-round health.
Remember, these are general guidelines. For the most accurate schedule and fertilizer type, a soil test can be very beneficial. Our team of experts at CLC Landscaping can conduct a soil test and create a personalized fertilization plan to keep your Texas lawn lush and thriving.

At CLC Landscaping, we understand that “one-size-fits-all” fertilization doesn’t work in Texas’ diverse climate and soil conditions. That’s why we offer custom fertilization plans tailored to your specific landscape needs. Our experts will assess your plant varieties, soil composition, and watering habits to create a targeted plan that promotes healthy growth and vibrant blooms. This may include slow-release fertilizers, organic options, or adjustments based on the season. We’ll ensure your plants receive the optimal nutrients they need to thrive throughout the year.

We recommend a free consultation to properly assess your lawn’s health and specific needs. During the consultation, our lawn care specialists will discuss your goals, examine your soil composition, and create a personalized fertilization plan.

The safety of your family and pets is our priority. We offer slow-release and pet-friendly fertilizers that minimize risk. We will also advise on the appropriate waiting period after application before allowing children and pets on the lawn.

Yes, we offer organic fertilization options that utilize natural ingredients to nourish your lawn without using synthetic chemicals.

We will provide detailed instructions after fertilization. Typically, this may include avoiding watering for a specific timeframe and limiting foot traffic on the lawn.
